O humble shadow, walk with me.
Though the brightness of noon frighten you
and the blinding heat of sun smother you,
I will support you,
and carry you
on light-hearted feet.
O sightless one, take my eyes!
See the verdant rainbow
in the flowered fields
as we skip merrily
to the bubbly spring.
O earless one, take my ears!
Feel the honeyed music
of melodious birds
as they fly carelessly
amidst the laughter
of playing children.
O humble shadow, growing old and gray
in the final crimson ray
filtered through cloudy whispers,
support my time-twisted feet with your slender legs.
As the ruby sun dives over the distant horizon,
We will diminish,
and be together
in the twilight.
