Encyclopedia Brown, fact, fiction, Hardy Boys, Kidnapped, Nancy Drew, Poem, Poetry, Robert Louis Stevenson, Three Investigators, Treasure Island, truth
or rather the love of it,
was exhumed from childhood
by a father reconnecting.
One would think an avid reader
of Encyclopedia Brown, the Boys,
the Investigators, and Nancy Drew
could or would separate fact
from fiction.
Perhaps, it was the forced finding
of Treasure or being Kidnapped! (double bound)
that brought the animosity, the coercion
every rebel or pirate despises:
that proclamation of fool’s gold,
“I didn’t like it,
because it wasn’t true.”
i think a kid has a pretty fine sense for detecting what is true and what is played..esp. when it comes to relationship…the three investigators is a fav childhood lecture of me as well
