The child was alive, yes, but
it would have never had the chance

to smile.  Savita, full of life
was the bestower of smiles.
Yet now, the fainting heartbeat
was valued over two lives
and all those smiles,
generations upon
generations of them.

(This is to honor an Indian dentist in Ireland who was to miscarry at 17 weeks.  The doctors by refusing treatment are said to be guilty of her death by infection days later. She was actually told the quoted line above.)
