Cut and dried relationships
are seldom seen for heart strings fail
to part with ease, if even one
were willing them to come undone.

If years have taken them to grow,
oft tears can only make them go.
what mind wants over, hearts will cast
their tendrils, binding feelings fast.

And pain, once torn, that leaves just one
will linger on, and stretch, renew
to fill the wound, hearts caught askew
to each for hurt, mistendered due.
