Innocence Lost
Pirouettes are bound by hammered blade.
Forged shades of crimsoned black to white.
Evils massed assume the cloak of good.
Blood and body, broken chaffings made,
Droop in stage’s sacrificial rite.
Handshakes and bows, “Welcome to the hood.”
(Note: My fellow blogger, Sabio, recently made a post on his poetry blog about the election of a new pope & the Russian ballet. He challenged his readers to change one line based on their feelings.. I felt I couldn’t do so because it for together very well. So instead, I wrote a poem with the same subject matter (organized crime and organized religion..not so much different)
We all lose innocence but blessed those who can still see the good in humanity. Organized anything has the potential for corruption but also has the potential for good. I look for the good and often by doing so, I find it. 🙂
I understand you there Diana. Kinda surprised you commented on this one as it is darker than your standard fare.. 😉
Oh I have a dark side. We all do and I’ve been around the block a few times…Maybe that’s why I’m so determined to look for goodness and light.
Of course we do…which brings me to the next question…do I get to choose which block? #wink#
(smiling) which block I’ve been around? or?
yeah, which block you’ve been around…? I can keep a secret..
so can I haha!
Very good.
Mankind is full of deceit, lift up any carpet and you will find dirt hidden under it. That said, there is an awful lot of goodness to be found – if we look for it.
This is what we humans are – fickle, imperfect.
Anna :o]
Indeed, welcome to the hood — a brotherhood of conspiracy to hold down. (thanx for the mention)
no problem..I didn’t check the Russian ballet thing out..I just used the info in your poem plus my knowledge of the Vatican affair…a bit darker than yours, with more metaphor, but still not necessarily better.. cheers
ugh…terrible things happened and still happen in the name of religion all across the globe though i really like what anna says as well…there’s an awful lot of goodness to be found if we look for it as well
